You can't build a civilization on a ruler that shrinks

Every science eventually fixed its units. The meter, the second, the kilogram — we made them constant on purpose, because you cannot measure, build, or plan anything when the unit itself keeps changing under you.

Money is the one measuring stick we left flexible. It's the ruler we price every wage, house, contract, and life plan against — and it gets quietly redefined a few percent every year (more in a crisis) by a small group that happens to benefit from the redefinition and gets to use the new units first.

Imagine telling engineers the meter will shrink a few percent a year, at a rate decided by people who own the ruler factory and receive the new meters before anyone else. Every bridge gets mis-built. Every long-term plan is distorted. And over time, the people closest to the ruler factory quietly come to own everything — not by building more, but by standing nearest the redefinition.

That isn't a thought experiment. That's the monetary system.

A fixed supply isn't about getting rich. It's about restoring the one thing a complex society needs to coordinate honestly: a unit of account that nobody can dilute. You're not swapping one currency for another — you're re-fixing the ruler. And everything measured against it finally starts telling the truth.
